The last time Tales from the Crypt officially aired was 1989–1996, and after that it became trapped in complicated rights issues. For decades, no streaming service could legally host the full series — which is why this classic has basically been missing from the streaming world all these years.

Now in 2026, Shudder has finally secured the streaming rights, which means it will show all 7 seasons of the original uncut versions.

This isn’t a reboot. This isn’t a remake. This is the actual original series.

That means:

  • The same intro

  • The same Crypt Keeper puppet

  • The same voice by John Kassir

  • The same 80’s/90’s horror + dark comedy tone

  • The original twist-ending anthology format

Huge actors appearing in these episodes include:

  • Demi Moore

  • Brad Pitt

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger

  • Joe Pesci

and many more surprise appearances throughout the series

This begins May 1, 2026 on Shudder, and it will not all drop at once. Instead, the series rolls out weekly, with seasons and episodes being released over time. These are the original broadcast versions, including the full Crypt Keeper segments. Exactly how fans remember them.

This is also the first real streaming availability the original show has ever had due to those long-standing rights issues.

And now that these originals are finally being released, there’s renewed hope that a reboot could actually happen. Back in 2017, M. Night Shyamalan attempted to bring back Tales from the Crypt, but that version failed because of the same rights complications that kept the original from streaming.

Here at Vibe USA, we’re hoping that now those doors are finally opening… maybe M. Night Shyamalan can now make that reboot happen.

Will you be watching? We definitely will. The Crypt Keeper is calling, and we’re ready for the twisted tales all over again.
