📺 July 2026: What We’re Watching

This month really does have a little something for everyone. We’ve got movies and shows bringing the funny, horror that looks genuinely creepy, interesting documentaries, true crime, food shows, new game show seasons and an absolutely ridiculous amount of animation—but definitely not all animation for the kids.

One fun connection we noticed this month: Reese Witherspoon has two very different series arriving in July with her behind the scenes as an executive producer. Elle takes us back to Elle Woods’ high school years before Legally Blonde, while Lucky heads in a completely different direction with a dark crime thriller. From pink and perky to crime and danger—apparently Reese is covering both ends of our July watch list.

Here’s what caught our attention and what we’ll be watching at Vibe USA this July. We hope you find something here to watch with us!

✦ First, We Need Some Funny

We love serious movies and a good creepy documentary, but sometimes you just need to laugh—and July is bringing plenty of opportunities.

Netflix brings comedian Jeff Arcuri with his quick crowd-work energy with Nice to Meet You on July 7th, while Mary Beth Barone makes her hour-long Netflix special debut later in the month with Galaxy Brain on July 28th.

We’re also watching Ride or Die on Prime July 15, starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham as best friends whose relationship gets a little more complicated when one of them turns out to be an international assassin. We’re hoping this one has some of that wild mismatched-buddy energy we loved in The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

Then there’s The Hawk, a golf satire arriving on Netflix July 16. With Will Ferrell playing an aging golf legend chasing one last major—and apparently dragging everyone around him into the chaos. With Molly Shannon, Luke Wilson, Fortune Feimster and more in the mix, the cast alone has us curious.

And on July 24, Kevin Hart leads 72 Hours, a Netflix comedy about a 40-year-old ad executive who gets mistakenly added to a younger group’s chat and joins them for a wild three-day Miami bachelor party.

✦ Horror Fans, July Has You Covered

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come picks up with Grace surviving one nightmare only to discover the deadly game is far from over. This time her estranged sister is pulled into the madness too.

Then there’s Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, which is absolutely not the fun Brendan Fraser kind of mummy movie. This one follows a family whose daughter vanished into the desert, only to return eight years later under horrifying circumstances.

Also on our horror radar this month: Faces of Death (2026) , The Art of Killing, Chum, The Devil’s Mouth and Nightborn. Basically, if your idea of relaxing is turning off all the lights and intentionally making yourself afraid to walk down your own hallway afterward, July understands you.

✦ Something for the Foodies

July is serving up a pretty good food lineup too.

Emeril Lagasse is back in the kitchen with Emeril Cooks, and Hot Ones: Extra Heat takes the celebrity interview format and makes it bigger, with new challenges, surprises and a Netflix-sized twist on the familiar hot-wing chaos.

The premiere features Will Ferrell, Fortune Feimster and Jimmy Tatro, giving us a little crossover fun with The Hawk.

We’re also watching Pitmasters: Season 1 and, somehow already, Season 19 of The Great Food Truck Race. At this point, we have watched enough food television to confidently judge barbecue and food trucks while possessing absolutely none of the necessary qualifications.

✦ Documentaries We’re Curious About

One of the documentaries we’re most curious about is The Man Will Burn, exploring the birth and evolution of Burning Man and how an unusual gathering grew into a cultural phenomenon.

Also on our list are Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea, The Real Wolf of Wall Street and Marc by Sofia.

The Real Wolf of Wall Street especially caught our attention because the three-part documentary goes beyond the Hollywood version of Jordan Belfort’s story, using archival material and investigative records to revisit his rise and fall.

✦ Calling All Crime Junkies

You already know we’re here.

Worst Neighbor Ever explores neighbor disputes that escalate far beyond arguments over barking dogs and property lines. The four-part series includes harassment, paranoia and cases that turn deadly.

Murder 101 may be the true-crime story we’re most fascinated by this month. A sociology teacher in rural Tennessee challenged his high school students to investigate a series of unsolved murders. What began as a classroom project grew into a real investigation as the students examined the Redhead Murders, connected clues and helped bring renewed attention to forgotten victims.

There’s also A Killer Among Friends, narrated by Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Return to Fox Hollow: New Victims, Darker Secrets.

The Fox Hollow case was enormous. Investigators discovered thousands of human bone fragments on the Indiana property once owned by suspected serial killer Herb Baumeister, and the investigation into identifying victims has continued for decades. The new special returns to the case with new developments, questions about possible accomplices, missing evidence and witness accounts that are still being examined.

✦ And Then There’s the Animation…

Animation is having a very grown-up July.

King of the Hill is back for its 15th season, which is kind of amazing all by itself.

Then there’s Breaking Bear, arriving on Tubi July 24. This adult animated comedy follows a dysfunctional family of bears who turn to crime to save their forest from destruction. The voice cast includes Brendan Fraser, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Annie Murphy, Josh Gad and Elizabeth Hurley. Yes, you read all of that correctly. Bears. Crime. Brendan Fraser. We’re watching.

President Curtis also expands the Rick and Morty world, following the President and his eccentric staff as they deal with everything from paranormal threats to interdimensional problems.

And there’s Dog Man. Dog Man is the first book in Dav Pilkey’s popular Dog Man series. Introducing a unique superhero with an all-star voice cast that includes Pete Davidson, Ricky Gervais, Isla Fisher and more.
